A Trip To Remember

Land of the Incas
Last week I returned from Peru where I led a World Gospel Mission and evangelism work tour of four men from North Dakota, Minnesota and Ohio to the city Cuzco, Peru. This city has over 350,000 people and is located in the Andean Mountains at 11,200 feet above sea level. Once known as the capital of the Inca Empire, it takes in 1,500 tourists per day during the tourist season, who come to visit the near by Inca ruins of Machu Picchu.
Working Hands
The team did an awesome job working on church-related projects, whether it was preparing a floor for cement pouring, or building a roof and sanctuary platform. We also worked on two homes, installing walls, a water tank, and temporary windows for a widow lady and her two children who had been living in a tent. What a testimony and impact the men made on lives as they reflected the spirit of Christ in spite of the language barrier.
Receptive Hearts
I also was privileged to speak in five different churches, where God wonderfully blessed His Word at two youth rallies, two leadership workshops on evangelism, and congregational meetings. Over 20 people sought Christ for the first time, such as the husband and wife who were saved following a church dinner; or the invalid grandmother who received Christ in her home; or the teenage girl who eagerly sought Jesus following a Sunday morning service; or the young man selling ice cream, who after reading a track given by a work team member, repeated the sinner’s prayer.
