A Land of Receptivity
Guatemala, a beautiful, mountainous Central American country (population over 15 million) has a very high percentage of Christians. Yet, with the constant moral deterioration and increasing social problems, there is a wide open door for sharing the Good News.
God Moved In Hearts
John Schmid, a Christian guitarist and singer and I ministered to prisoners, police, youth and in different churches. We traveled more than 300 miles overland during our time there. God’s Spirit moved as hearts sought forgiveness, spiritual freedom and renewal, and young people made commitments toward to Christ and toward sexual purity.
Testimonies
Also, our sincere thanks to Pastor Elías and Pastor Rivas who were very instrumental in opening doors. Elías, once an alcoholic, turned to God while sitting in a bar. His transformation was instantaneous. Today, he pastors a church and has a vision to starting a medical clinic to help the poor in his community. Rivas found God in prison. During his seven-year stay, a massacre took place resulting in the slaughter and decapitation of inmates and officers. Rivas, however, was instrumental in building a church on the exact location where the killings took place. He is now the head pastor for three prisons in Guatemala.
