Bert Jones has engaged in leadership development nationally and internationally throughout his ministry. He has traveled on five different continents and to over 33 different countries to teach and preach the gospel. Bert is also a certified instructor for the Perspectives on the World Christian Movement and frequently teaches lessons regionally for the Perspectives movement.
Bert graduated from Asbury College (now University) in 1989 with a B.A. degree in Bible. He holds his ordination through the Missionary Church USA. The Missionary Church is an evangelical denomination committed to church planting and world missions.
Bert has served as the senior pastor at Woodburn Missionary Church in Woodburn, IN, since November 2014. From 2007–2014, Bert served as the president and CEO of GO International, a short-term mission agency based in Wilmore, KY. He also served as adjunct staff at Asbury University. Bert served as the director of Leadership & Church ministries and as the chaplain at the Christian Medical and Dental Associations (CMDA) in Bristol, TN, from 2015–2017. In 1998, Bert planted Harvest Community Church in Kittanning, PA, and served as its lead pastor for 6 years.
Bert has coauthored two books with Dr. David Stevens: Servant Leadership Proverbs and Leadership Proverbs (Christian Medical and Dental Associations, or CMDA, 2017). He is also the author of Practical Youth Ministry (Bristol, 1992).
Bert and his wife, Cheryl, have been married since 1989 and have three grown children actively serving the Lord: Joshua, Allyson, and Aaron.
Bert grew up as no stranger to evangelic ministry. His father and grandfather were both involved in full-time ministry and evangelism. Bert was active in their family radio ministry, which was on the air for over 50 years on more than 50 different radio stations around the country (a ministry that his grandparents started). His grandmother was the author of the song In Times Like These.
