Dear family and friends,
Greetings to each of you!
We trust that this Thanksgiving season has been filled with praise to God for His mercy, grace and goodness. How very thankful I am for the opportunities to take the life-changing Word to various places and for safety in travels.
The purpose of this last trip to Guatemala was to focus on prison ministry. We were blessed with God’s divine favor throughout our days there. Special thanks to the endless efforts of our coordinator and prison chaplain, Cesar Rivas, and for his part in making appointments, getting permission from prison authorities to hold meetings, and for driving over 1,000 kilometers.
I was privileged, along with Dr. Andres Jocobo, a seasoned evangelist and trumpet player, to minister in seven of the 26 prisons of Guatemala through the preaching of the Word and music.
Most of the prison populations are made up of young men and women in their 20s or 30s, marked for life for crimes committed. But what a transformation Christ has made and continues to make in the lives of these bitter, desperate and lonely individuals. For example, the largest prison we visited has approximately 5,000 inmates, but also has a live and vibrant church of 1,000. The joy of the Lord is very evident in the lives of so many transformed inmates!
We also were honored to speak to the cadets at an air force academy, and to the police at one of their stations in Guatemala City. And Dr. Andres also spoke to over 200 professionals at a hotel. Again, the response was beautiful!
As we traveled to and from the different prison locations, we saw how God’s Word found lodging in so many attentive and hungry hearts. As a result, 193 came Christ, 265 were spiritually reconciled, and others sought inner healing. Praise His Name!
Thank you for your continual support and prayers, which makes the evangelistic ministry possible. May each of you have a joyous Christmas, as we remember the Prince of Peace who transforms lives.
In His service,
Dave and Karol
