Summer Camp: It’s Not Just for Kids

Can you remember the last time you went away to camp? Rosita and I just returned from a week at an incredible camp in southern Georgia. Taylor County Family Camp has been in operation for about 80 years and has a rich history of holiness and exciting Bible teaching. What a joy it was to renew old friendships with people I have not seen for quite a while and to meet new people and make so many new friends. We heard powerful preaching and insightful Bible teaching and enjoyed warm, welcoming fellowship. We were challenged and re-challenged to go deeper with God, allowing him to change us from the inside.

Just as Taylor Camp was finishing, Indian Springs Camp was starting up. This seems to be the pattern all summer long: as one camp finishes, another begins. There are camps to be found all over the United States, “from sea to shining sea” as the song goes. Part of my job here at the Francis Asbury Society is to visit as many of the camps that I can within the eastern part of the country and to bring greater exposure to FAS. We are having so much fun! I can tell you that there is no better way to spend the summer than listening to holiness preachers share the Word of God.

If you see us, be sure to stop by and say hello, check out the selection of books that we have brought, and pick up a current issue of The High Calling as well as a prayer card for the ministry here at FAS. Maybe you have never been to a holiness camp anywhere and are not sure what the excitement is all about. I want to encourage you to drop in on one some night. You don’t need a reservation, there are no assigned seats, and it’s a very casual dress code. Come as you are, ready to hear from God.
