Sessions were held in a revival-style tent

On the weekend of May 13-14, over 300 friends of the Francis Asbury Society gathered for a special time of worship, preaching, and fellowship. The new Ministry Center was dedicated to the sacred purposes to which FAS is committed: to spread scriptural holiness to the ends of the earth in accordance with the Great Commission.

There were three sessions and a dedication ceremony, all held in a revival-style tent (with the exception of the dedication ceremony) directly behind the FAS Ministry Center.

At the Friday evening opening session, Dr. Kinlaw gave a powerful message on the legacy of Francis Asbury and our responsibility to hold him in remembrance. Afterwards, Dr. Kinlaw and the late Dr. Burgess, the Founders of FAS, were honored with a reception.

Saturday morning, despite some light rain, Dr. John Oswalt delivered the session two message entitled, “Why Another Ministry?” Dr. Ron Smith followed this with a sermon on the centrality of the Cross of Jesus. Attendees then enjoyed a cookout lunch of steak and grilled chicken. After lunch, Bill Gould led a Wesleyan hymn-sing.

As the rain continued, the dedication ceremony had to be moved inside the Ministry Center. This turned out to be a very fitting setting for the ceremony. President Paul Blair stood in front of the stained glass piece for the dedicatory address. The festivities concluded as they had opened, with Dan and Renita Koehn leading out in worship.

Full videos of each session, included the dedication ceremony, are available on the FAS Vimeo site. Pictures can be viewed here.
